Welcome to Whitby!

Whitby is one of England’s finest coastal resorts, situated at the mouth of the River Esk, in North East Yorkshire. It is also an ancient seaport with a long maritime history including boat building which is still practised today.

There is a wealth of history from the jet industry to whaling; Captain Cook and his voyages of discovery, all the way back to the monastery of St Hilda in the 7th Century. More on this can be found in the Whitby archives, the Captain Cook Memorial Museum, the Pannett Park Museum and Art Gallery, or a walk up the 199 steps to the ruins of the Abbey and the recently refurbished Abbey visitors centre.

Whitby has wonderful sandy beaches, quaint shops, plenty of fine pubs and restaurants, situated on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, it offers everything for moors and coastal walkers. All this coupled with its many annual themed events like the Regatta, Folk week, Gothic festivals, there is plenty to do for all ages!

Fantastic

“Hotel fantastic. By the time our holiday ended Andi & Kerry seemed more like friends than hosts. Nothing was to much trouble. Breakfast was great you could not wish for more or better. Andi was great with information on places to visit and places to eat, the room was superb even down to little treats waiting for you on your pillow everyday. I would highly recommend and will definitely stay again on my return to Whitby.”
